CAMEL CRICKETS are of the most common household pest crickets they are. Many call this the spider cricket due to its close resemblance to spiders. Mainly they invade dark damp places such as crawl spaces, basements, sheds, and storage rooms and can lead to severe infestations. Camel crickets are often found hanging upside down on wood areas under houses. By the most part they are harmless but if not controlled they can get out of hand and sometimes the babies begin forging inside causing nuisance problems.

It is important to control these crickets because the population will just keep getting bigger and very rarely go away on their own.  Since these are mainly outdoor pest in makes sense to go right to the source and do an outside treatment. If the situation is severe then it is  in order to spray with a liquid such as Talstar One directly to infestation surfaces. Then we recommend to do a general baiting around the home with Nibad granular bait as prescribed. If the infestation is indoors then a repellant such as Demon WP may be in order.

The FIELD CRICKET is more of the common indoor invader. They are the larger cricket with wings and are dark brown to gray or blackish. Even though they prefer to live outside where they feed on plants it is well known for them to come in during droughts or when conditions outside become unfavorable. This crickets can be found throughout the USA.

Since field crickets are attracted to light it is recommended to turn off lights whenever possible or at least use yellow lights during severe infestations. To keep the infestations from coming indoors exclusion techniques should be used by the use of tight fitting screens, tight doors, opening near the ground sealed and all cracks should be caulked. In most cases a good outside baiting should completely eliminate them such as Niban around the perimeter of the home and under the house. To control indoors then baiting with Niban FG in wall voids and under appliances should effectively control populations indoors. If the situation is severe then I recommend you use both techniques. If not , where ever the infestation is the most then target that area. Most of the time outside treatment is always best to start.

The HOUSE CRICKET  lives outdoors but will forge indoors in great numbers. They are identified as being light yellowish-brown with three dark bands on the head and a long thin antennae. They are mostly active at night and will remain hidden during the day. They will readily feed on almost anything. These crickets are known to be the noisy ones giving reason for a need to control for homeowners. Also these crickets can cause damage to fabrics such as clothing, carpets, and furs if they are not controlled and they get out of hand.

The exclusion techniques mentioned above for the field cricket also apply here for the house cricket too. The most effective form of treatment would be a baiting system here. In severe cases a thorough bating of Talstar granular should be applied to all outside areas. We also recommend baiting with Niban FG inside wall voids as prescribed and use Niban FG in the attic area as well. Insecticides sprays can be used if desired though. Remember never use baits and sprays at the same time.

MOLE CRICKETS are known to be  outdoor crickets frequently causing problems in lawns and in dark damp places around the home. They are known to be an occasional invader indoors though. They will attack paper, all kinds of foods and even rubber (Truman's,252).

Most of the time a focus on outdoor treatment will solve mole cricket problems since it is very rare that severe infestations occur.   It is recommended spraying Talstar One in a 20 foot band, including a fan spray around the foundation and  windows, around the whole perimeter of the home.  Then when completely dried apply a bait such as Talstar granular around all outside areasif the season is fall or winter. If these two products are applied properly we guarantee this will completely eliminate mole crickets. Feel free to email us with any questions.
